As the war in #Ukraine wears on, history’s cyclical nature is rearing its ugly head. This piece is my interpretation of an untitled work by Zdzislaw Beksiński, born in Poland in the throes of WWII. Beksiński’s haunting, dystopian art was often left untitled and he refused to elaborate on its meaning. But the influence of the horrors of war he lived through is impossible to ignore.
History is repeating itself next door to Poland in Ukraine. The abhorrent inhumanity feels surreal against the backdrop of the 21st century. As I think of the lives irreparably marred by the violence, it is the innocent that always sacrifice the most. I chose to recreate this piece because of how it encapsulates the raw emotions and tragedy of humanity. I hand-modeled, textured, and rendered it using #Unrealengine5 with #Zbrush and #Substance.
